Dytryn isn’t a word you’ll find in a dictionary. It’s a mindset. A shorthand for how we live: die trying. Not in a reckless way — in the way that means you don’t sit on the sidelines, you don’t wait until conditions are perfect, and you don’t let fear of failure keep you from showing up.
Who’s Behind It
My name is Mark. I’m a husband (to Nicole, who is somehow still supportive of all of this), an overlander, a scuba diver, a recreational runner, and a guy who spent years ignoring his health before finally doing something about it.
In early 2025, a blood work panel was the wake-up call I needed. Pre-diabetic, overweight, and feeling it. So I started figuring it out — intermittent fasting, knee treatments, a GLP-1 medication called Tirzepatide, and eventually running a half marathon (well, most of one). Over 40 pounds down as of early 2026. Still a work in progress. Always will be.
What Dytryn Covers
Overlanding & Off-Road — Jeep builds, trail runs, club trips, gear that holds up and gear that doesn’t.
Scuba Diving — Local diving in the Midwest, quarries, lakes, ocean trips, and working toward Divemaster.
Health & Fitness — The real story on fasting, weight loss, stem cell knee treatments, running, and what it actually takes to get healthier in your 40s.
Gear — Coming soon: Dytryn Basecamp, a shop for the stuff we actually use. Overlanding, scuba, camping, biking — gear built for people who go.
The Name
“Die trying” sounds dramatic. But really it just means: keep going. Try the thing. Fail if you have to. Try again. Life’s too short to spend it on the bench.
That’s Dytryn.
